Onions, baby!

So recently I took my daughter who is five years old to the Indiana State Fair for the first time. In my house hold finances are well... minimal to say the least. So I gave her $20 dollars an told her she could do whatever she wanted with it. She decided to play games with the money. Apparently $20 dollars doesn't go far at the fair, she was able to play only a few games before here money ran out. I did not have any more money to give her and this really upset her. She pouted for a while and then while driving home she initiated a conversation with me. Daddy why are the games so expensive, why don't we have more money to spend etc. I preceded to explain that I have to use the majority of our money to pay bill and buy food etc..etc.. I explained "we cant always have what we want and life is not always fair . She replied, then why do they call it a fair?

Response to class 3

This was a bit better. I am starting to see the point a little. I will remain leery but I am willing to try a bit. If for nothing else but to see some more of Beth's rock collection.

Fear/object exercise

I don't really know what you mean by do something so I will try and describe what I would do if I had the time. Today is my 30th birthday and well I am afraid of getting old. So in class we were asked to use the pizza box as our object and relate it to fear. Initially I tried to think of something scary that had to do with pizza boxes and the only thing I could think of was this show I watched when I was a kid about roaches in mass quantities eating everything/everyone in sight. So I began to think what I could do with that Idea and it made me think of aging and rotting. I decided that my thing that I would do is illustrate the life cycle of a pizza box using time lapse photography over a one year period of time. I would start with a couple of punk college kids eating in a wooded area, they would discard there trash by leaving it just where it was when they were finished eating and then I would photograph the box through the seasons and watch it age and rot until the box had almost dissolved into the earth. Perhaps throwing up subliminal captions during the time lapse that help to narrate the story and relate the imagery to our own story of living and dying.

Response to class 2

My response to class 2 can be most easily summarized as OMG WTF. We turned the lights out and listened to each other giggle and fart. I have not experienced anything like it since kindergarten. It is to early for me to pass judgment but I am worried that I am wasting my time and money with this class.
